NEWCOMB COLLEGE Tall vase carved by Sadie Irvine with a moonlit landscape of live oaks and Spanish moss, 1927. Small manufacturing glaze slip at rim. NC/SI/131/QM68/paper label. 11" x 5 1/2" (NOTES: "This was our first art pottery Christmas present, purchased from Lillian Hoffman in December 1971. It was soon snatched away for permanent exhibition at the Carborundum Museum by Curator James R. Mitchell, and there it remained from the opening of that ambitious institution, June 14th 1973 until it closed, February 2nd 1976.")
